Fund Raising
New Programs
CMS has a long history of community service. We do several things which distinguish us from others:
- We give their time,
- We fundraise, in addition to giving money, and
- We create new programs for the benefit of the community.
Time
We are involved in many causes which require working with others in a one-on-one environment. We have given hundreds of hours to the children of the Russell Byers Charter School in Philadelphia as part of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program.Another example is our Day of Caring where the company is closed so that all everyone can work together in the community for the day. The project can range from repainting a community center to building a playground.
Fund Raising
When it comes to raising funds for worthy causes, We are there whether it is to chair the campaign or simply to work in it. To illustrate, CMSers have chaired or co-chaired many campaigns, including the following:
- Alexis de Tocqueville Society of United Way
Co-chaired the campaign on five occasions which helped take Philadelphia from the bottom ranking out of 56 cities to first in the country in funds raised.- Federation of Jewish Agencies Annual Campaign
Co-chaired the Federation Campaign which won the award for the best campaign in the country.- Gesu School in Philadelphia
Two CMSers co-chaired a campaign that was responsible for keeping the doors of the school open after the Catholic Archdiocese had decided to end its funding of the school in 1992. The school has received national recognition for its success in the inner city as well as the partnership that has been forged with local entrepreneurs.- Operation Exodus
Co-chaired the campaign which raised $45 million in Philadelphia to rescue Jews from the former Soviet Union. Philadelphia had more six figure gifts to this campaign than any city in the country, due in part to the CMS-inspired idea of syndicating airplanes and allowing contributors to ride with the people they helped rescue.- Yemin Orde Youth Village and Yemin Orde Initiatives
Chairing the campaign which to date has raised approximately $70 million for this award winning institution in Israel that provides home for thousands of disadvantaged children from 25 countries who are either orphans or lack a suitable place in which to live.- Perelman Jewish Day School
Chaired the campaign to raise $10 million in 12 months to rebuild the school which serves 400 children in grades pre-Kindergarten through grade 8.- Israel Bonds
CMS was honored at an Israel Bonds Dinner which raised $24.5 million, the most ever raised at a single such event at that time.New Programs
